River Level Staff Gauges
The River Staff Gauge is a range of automated river level gauging systems that can either be detecting HIGH and LOW level alerts using our Dual BDT Level Sensor within a simple gauge board.
For real-time level monitoring, the Radar Level Sensor housed in our GRP stilling tube with gauge board is our more advanced option. The automated River Staff Gauge is designed for continuous and reliable real-time monitoring for flood prone and high risk rivers, streams and fords prone to flooding in high risk areas.
Standard River Level Staff Gauge
The River Level Staff Gauge is a versatile telemetry communication system that monitors rivers prone to flooding in real-time 24/7 365. River level data can be monitored easily via our Sentinel365 platform. Set custom alert notifications for ‘high’ and ‘low’ river levels, and more.
The automated River Level Staff Gauge is designed for continuous and reliable real-time monitoring for flood prone and high risk rivers, streams and fords prone to flooding in high risk areas.
The River Level Staff Gauge is available in heights ranging from 1m to 4m and comprises of a GRP upstand with optional hinged service cover, housing within a single or dual level BDT Level Sensor assembly. The staff gauge can be supplied for wall or ground mounting, or a hybrid of the two. When intended for ground mounting it is supplied with a 60cm extension root.
The River Staff Gauge is also available in a GRP stilling tube containing our Radar Level Sensor for precise and continuous level monitoring. This typical system can also provide predictive data analysis for future forecasting.

A perfect option for use in applications in public areas or where flow is turbulent and a real-time upload of data is required, such as for the generation of flood warnings or the control of smart catchments.
Supplied complete with an integrated MCETRS certified Vegapulse C21 radar it features industry leading accuracy. Optionally in areas protected from frost and ice, a single or dual hydrostatic pressure transducer/s may alternatively be supplied. For clarity, this station is not a data logger. Instead, it is a real-time telemetry system with the choice of cellular or Iridium satellite upload for this many “not-spots” around the globe. The gauge can also be supplied with local radio telemetry on RDN’s Ofcom licenced radio channel for the purpose of local control of assets such as tilting weirs.
There is a choice of sampling rate, from 5-minutes to hourly and upload rates to match. There are also bespoke options where the upload rate can accelerate when the level exceeds a preset threshold.

Physical security is assured through the use of stainless-steel brackets which can be clamped to handrails, bolted to culvert walls. A stainless-steel pin is also provided to lock into place the mechanism.
