Radio Telemetry & PMR Radio Systems

Our Engineers have spent many decades perfecting techniques, protocols and tools to extract and deliver data from awkward and remote locations using Radio Telemetry. Locations include sewers, basements, bunkers, cable ducts, oil interceptors, and meter pits without the need for power, cables or access to either the cellular or Wi-Fi networks.

Our communications operate at low frequencies that have been carefully chosen to give optimum penetration in both rural and urban environments. Our signals do not require a clear path and can more readily penetrate through walls, buildings, trees and even complete forests, something not achievable with the much higher frequency Wi-Fi, Zigbee or Bluetooth technology. In Europe we operate on the former ERMES pager band and in the UK and Channel Islands on our own exclusive private radio frequency licenced from Ofcom where currently already deliver over 100-million messages on behalf of our customers per annum. Finally, we can operate in the US under both FCC Part 15 and Part 90.

Our low operating frequencies also deliver other advantages with regard to energy consumption. Our transmissions although using a 32-bit address IP address typically require only approximately 1/1000 of the energy of a cellular or Wi-Fi to cover a much greater distance. Not only this permit us to operate the majority of our devices from batteries, but to also enables us to power sensors, simplifies intrinsic safety compliance and still find enough energy to broadcast automated health messages from every device. So unlike cellular where virtual constant monitoring is virtually impossible due to cost and power, we are able to offer 24/7 status monitoring both the heartbeats signals and their strength ensuring our equipment is working, delivering data and is ready for action.

Automatic Self Testing:

All of our systems offer automated self testing and diagnostics as standard. Aside from collecting data all of our systems monitor the presence of each device and have the capability of reporting a loss or failure via relays, status indicators or via our software platforms.

Our PC and Data Concentrator solutions go one stage further. Not only do they monitor for signal loss but that also dynamically measure the strength of the signals received and between messages monitor and report the background noise levels.

Parallel Dual Delivery & Redundancy:

Our systems can be setup with multiple receiver locations whereby the same data is processed and displayed locally and/or used for control. This facility can be used to build in redundancy and to enhance coverage, effectively creating your own grid of data collection points or data concentrators.

Battery Operation:

Our systems have been designed to support both mains and battery operation. Key to our battery efficiency is our lean data protocols and the ability to control the application of power to sensors.

Achieving Extended Coverage:

We have a range of repeaters and/or high power PMR transmitters that can be deployed to extend our networks to cover either larger areas or to pass signals around obstructions such as hills or mountains.

Our repeaters include a smart store and forward facility that permits them to be daisy chained without repeatedly repeating the last message received.  Repeaters can be either solar, battery or preferably mains powered.

With transmit powers up to 25W we feel that nothing is too great at challenge.
