In those early days ironically all systems required a licence and then during the 1990s thanks in part to the work of dedicated members of the industry and the Low Power Radio Association, www.lpra.org licence free operation was permitted first in the UK and then throughout Europe. For those not familiar with the term Radio Telemetry this is the measurement and delivery of data using radio. The data can be almost anything from the level of flow in a river, a blockage within a sewer, a security breach on a remote site, the applications are endless.
Since those early days we have seen both the rise and peak in licence free telemetry across a number of bands. However, nothing is for even and there is the growing fears of interference, cyber attack and in the UK the pending withdrawal of the most popular band the MPT1329 458Hz band, we have gone one full circle and back in 2010 acquire an exclusive national licenced allocation stretching across the entire UK and the Channel Islands.
Fuelled by failures of the cellular industry to provide adequate reliable coverage and service level agreements during the migration from 2G, 3G to 4G and 5G we have seen an unprecedented uptake of our licenced services to the point where we now deliver over 100-million messages per annum on these bands.
Our range of telemetry solutions is now growing, in addition to our extensive range of sewer monitoring products we are launching a range of portable telemetry transmitters in 2015 fully compatible with our existing Gateway Receivers that permit rapid deployments to be made during times of crisis. Units can be supplied complete with transducers or as OEM units to which OEM transducers can be fitted. All units are supplied in waterproof carry cases and complete with rechargeable or disposable battery packs.
