Flooding can arises from many sources including groundwater, storm water run-off, blocked drains and sewers (sewer flooding) and river rise etc. It affects millions of people per annum and is a growing problem both in the developed and developing world.

Flooding is a natural phenomenon that has been aggravated by human urbanisation; the concreting over of absorbent surfaces; de-forestation; intensive farming, etc. In many countries flooding claims the lives of hundreds of people per year and makes tens of thousands of people homeless and pollutes millions of acres of land.

Even in the UK and Western Europe people have died in recent floods and countless people have been left homeless and businesses ruined.  We are all equally to blame as we have for centuries built houses and industry on flood planes, along the banks of rivers or in areas where there are dips that are subject to "ponding".

At Environmental Innovation we don't claim to be able to eliminate flooding - but we would like to think that we can make a difference to this massive problem. We can generate and distribute advanced warnings to communities and have technology that can be applied to divert storm waters to prevent local flooding and also to reduce the number of combined sewer overflow discharges.

Once installed, systems can deliver SMS texts, e-mails and voice calls for as little as £15.00 per person per annum, based upon as little as 200 household village system and the systems themselves cost from under £1,000 to £10,000 depending upon the number of Alarm Detector units and wireless Sirens used.
